Anyone with an active University ID can use this space. This includes everyone from part-time undergraduates and professional staff members to professors!
For new members, follow the steps on the Become a Maker page. After you have completed your online New Member induction you can sign up for space and tool specific inductions by clicking the booking button next to them.
No. To become a member of the ANU MakerSpace you must have an active University ID at the ANU.
However, if you have a specific project in mind, you can submit an application to be considered for the Maker in Residence program.
We adhere to the ANU and ACT Health guidance and requirements. Head to ANU’s COVID-19 advice page to stay informed with the university's current policies. As always, be considerate of each other and please stay home, get tested and follow any isolation requirements if you are unwell.
No. This is not allowed. Everyone should be swiping their card, even if coming along together. It is important that everyone joins the MakerSpace with the same information about our safety practices and culture.
Yes! For ANU students and/or staff. Anyone with an active University-ID can join.
No, a few tools have material policies that give you an allowance of our supplies for free, but otherwise we expect members to bring all their own materials. Some scraps and common consumables (tape, cotton thread, paper) are available freely throughout the MakerSpaces.

Yes! We only close for public holidays, plus the university shutdown period over Christmas.
The ANU MakerSpace is committed to inclusion and accessibility and will work to facilitate makers who require access plans and/or support. Contact us if you would like to discuss any aspect of accessing the Makerspace or using our tools.
And let you miss all the fun? No way! The ANU MakerSpace is a place for people to make for themselves and to work together. It is not a service space.
No. All new members must first take a New Member induction , as well as a Space induction for the location of the tool. Check out the summary of all out inductions and how they work here.
